Welcome to the West Chester Fish, Game & Wildlife Association website. Our organization was founded over 80 years ago by a concerned group of local sportsmen dedicated to preserving and protecting the environment and we proudly carry on that tradition today.
Our single largest and most popular activity is annually raising approximately 2,000 trout which we subsequently stock in West Valley Creek. Of the 171 Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Cooperative Trout Nurseries in Pennsylvania, we are the 21st oldest and have been in continuous operation since 1964. Our nursery is located on the Paradise Farm Camps property in Downingtown, PA, near the intersection of Ravine Road and Valley Creek Road.
Although the operation of the nursery and raising of the trout are the largest ongoing commitment of the club's resources, we also conduct other activities that benefit the local environment and/or are aimed at educating local residents, particularly youth, about the outdoors. These activities include stream restoration projects in West Valley Creek (PA Fish & Boat Commission's "Adopt-A-Stream" Program Partner), litter removal from Clover Mill Road (Adopt-A-Highway Program), fishing rodeos, free hunter safety seminars, and periodic presentations by experts in the fields of fishing, hunting, and wildlife conservation.
We hold regular members meetings and host noted speakers on hunting, fishing, wildlife and conservation. Membership is open to all, and new members are always welcome. There are many volunteer opportunities for our members to help us meet our goal of bettering our local environment. To join, please see our application form in the "Contact Us" section.
